At 3 weeks of age, Claire has already experienced an earthquake and a hurricane. Two things I just experienced for the first time myself at 29 years old. She handled both like a champ....sleeping right through them.
I must admit, the earthquake scared the crap out of me. I had just fed Claire up in the bedroom and was burping her when the entire bed started shaking, then the walls, the mirror, and all of the furniture. The guy next door to us has been working on rehabbing his house so I thought for sure he was doing something that was about to bring both of our houses down. I scooped Claire up and ran downstairs and out the front door only to find all of my neighbors had done the same thing. That's when we realized it was an earthquake. Phew. Claire did not blink an eye through the whole thing. Just laid on my chest and slept right through it - even with my heart pounding. God bless her.
As for the hurricane, well I think we all expected it to be a lot worse than it was. We had a 30th birthday party to go to up in Lebanon so we decided it would be best to stay over Patrick's parents' house in Reading on Saturday night rather than make the 1.5 hour drive back home through the heaviest rain and risk losing power at home, getting stuck with no air conditioning, cable or electric. So Claire had her first sleepover. And we all know if Claire is good at one thing, it's sleeping. Here she is at Nana and Poppa's house doing what she does best.
And here's a pic of her waking up after the hurricane wondering what all of the hype was about.
We came home Sunday night to find all is well in Philly...even the new tree Patrick planted in the spring. Phew. (p.s. it's the skinny little tree on the right you can barely see :)).
Once home, Claire continued doing what she does...
I really meant to take more pics of her big hurricane weekend but of course forgot to so here are some highlights of week 3.
Mommy trying out the baby bjorn for the first time.
Claire watching the Phils game with Daddy. She's obviously a big fan already - can't even take her eyes off of the tv for a quick pic.
I'm hoping to take some cooler pics of the little lady this week so stay tuned :)

Love reading your blogs and seeing the beautiful pictures of Claire! I can see you both are loving every minute with her :) Hope to see you all soon!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see the tree getting some due space on this blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ri! We should get together one day during the week. I'd love to see Matthew and Dylan. Claire and I can come to you as I'm sure it's much easier for us to travel than it is for you :)
