She makes me smile

So after weeks of trying to get the little lady to smile...she finally rewarded us!  We've been trying to capture her smiles but as soon as we put a phone or camera in her face, she puts that scowl right back on. What a little trickster.

Go Phils!

Last week we got to take Claire to her first Phillies game which we were so excited about.  We didn't think we'd have a chance to get her there this season but lucky for us we did.  

Since it's pretty much impossible to find any newborn Phillies gear smaller than 6 months, we had to dress her in some neutral stuff.  I got her a little red hat and stuck a flower on it but it wasn't cold enough at the start of the game for her to wear so I of course had to put some sort of bow on her head so that people knew she was a girl....unfortunately we didn't have anything red but she still looked super cute :).  

She fell asleep like this waiting for daddy to get home...how the heck can she sleep with her arm up like that??  Weirdo.

Once daddy got home, we were on our way.  Claire's would've been first time seeing CBP had she been awake.

Claire slept for the first half of the game but finally woke up somewhere around the 5th inning and enjoyed the rest of the game...with her usual scowl.

I think it's safe to say the little peanut enjoyed her first game.  We can't wait to go back!

Party weekend

Claire really partied it up this weekend.  Saturday we had her Aunt Laura's baby shower at Grammie and Pop's house (who is due in only 3 weeks with Claire's cousin and future bff we can't wait to meet!). Thankfully the rain held out for us.

Who of course slept all but 10 minutes of the 6 hours we were there.  

Guess she was saving up her energy for her big day on Sunday - her baptism :-)  She literally slept up until the minute we had to go to church.  We had to wake her up to get her dressed.

And she was still yawning...

Some quick family pics before the ceremony began.  Note the gorgeous christening gown Claire is wearing which has been passed down through Patrick's family through 5 generations over the past 90 years.  Claire's daddy wore the same exact gown on his christening day...so special!

Claire's a lucky girl to have such great godparents.  Thanks Aunt Colleen and Uncle Chad!

The Flanagan/Torpey family sadly missing Claire's west coast family - Uncle Paul, Aunt Kristen, and big cousin Kian who she'll finally get to meet at Chrismas.  Can't wait!

Finally the christening began.  Father Ed baptized our little girl in a really sweet ceremony with just the fam.  Claire surprisingly stayed awake through the whole thing.

Didn't even cry when he poured the holy water on her head.

But boy was it cold.

Quick wardrobe change so we don't mess up the super special baptism gown.

And we're on our way to brunch.

Chubber in her new room

Claire had her 1 month checkup on Monday (although she was actually 5 weeks old since we had to push her appt back because of vacation last week).  She grew an entire inch since she's been born...now measuring 22.5 inches long and weighed in at a whopping 9 pounds 14.5 ounces which means she's gained 3 whole pounds since her appointment only 4 weeks ago.  They say most babies gain 1-2 lbs a month....our little chubber gained 3 lbs :)


Here's a pic of our, always serious, little chubber (who still isn't smiling for me yet by the way).

Although Claire hasn't technically graduated to the double digit weight club yet, she has graduated to sleeping in her very own room.  And it seems as though she loves it!  On only her 3rd night sleeping in her crib, she slept for 8 hours straight!  And I'm not exaggerating.

Speaking of her very own room, we finally got the rocker, side table, lamp and finished decorating with some girly touches. Here are some pics.

We have a big weekend ahead of us...Aunt Laura's baby shower on Saturday and the peanut's big day on Sunday - her baptism.  Can't wait to update you guys next week!
