All Flyered Up

On Monday night, we were lucky enough to take Claire to her first ever Flyers game.  Daddy had the day off from work so he got to spend some extra special time with Claire.

She really loves hanging with her daddy.

But it's time to get flyered up!
She was excited and ready to go :)
Had to get  a quick pic with the little cutie before heading in.
Once we finally got to the game, Claire was in awe.  That bright white ice really blew her away.
She seriously couldn't stop staring at it.
We had to turn her away from it to get her attention.
She did really great.  I guess I never realized how loud those games can be but she didn't seem to mind.  She fell asleep somewhere around the second period.
The only time she got spooked was when the Flyers scored - not only do 20,000 people jump up and cheer at the same time but they sound a really loud buzzer.  She woke up every time and frowned for a minute or so but then went back to relaxing and enjoying the game.
She lasted through all 3 periods so mommy and daddy were able to catch the whole game.  And it was a good one - the Flyers won 4-2.  Claire must be their lucky charm :)

Cousins!

Claire finally got to meet her little cousin Lily last week.  She was asleep when we got there...
But woke up not long after.  She's super cute and tiny.  Like I said last week, she's just about the same size as Claire was when she was born but Patrick and I cannot believe it.  Look how tiny that little head is!
The pacifier is almost as big as her face...what a cutie!
Claire meet Lily.
BFF's already.
They even blink at the same time!

The morning after meeting Lily, Claire had her 2 month checkup where she had to get 4 shots...yikes.  She woke up looking fabulous and ready for the day.
Enjoyed a little bumbo time before heading out...poor thing had no idea what she was in store for.
In her car seat ready to go.
Once at the doctor's office, she had to strip down to her diaper so they could weigh and measure her. She gained close to 2.5 lbs since her last checkup 6 weeks ago and grew 3 inches since birth.  She's in the 95th percentile for her height, 75th for her weight and her head grew so much she went from being in the 25th percentile to being in the 70th percentile for head size.  She's growing like crazy!

She knew she was in for something unpleasant after her measurements.
She had to get 2 shots in each of her legs.  She cried a little after the first one but settled before having to get the second.  Cried again after the second but calmed down before the third shot.  The third shot was it for her.  She screamed for a good while.  The fourth shot didn't seem to phase her since she was already full fledged screaming.  Once they were all over she finally calmed down.

The doctor came in to check her out and answer any questions we may have.  She checked her ears, eyes, mouth, arms, legs, hips, and even stood her up to see how well she can hold her head up and if she can put any weight on her legs yet.  The doc said everything looked good and that she's very impressed with how well she can hold her head already....take that tummy time :)

After the doc was done examining Claire, I asked about her new love for biting.  Claire has found her fingers and loves nothing more than biting down on them...except for maybe biting down on mommy and daddy's fingers.  She seriously chews on them whenever she has the chance.  The dr said it could be early signs of teething but took a look in her mouth and said it didn't look like she was getting any teeth so she highly doubted that was it.  She then went on to tell me some kids just have oral fixations and like biting stuff....so pretty much she may just be a biter...like a little puppy....great.  Hopefully she never takes it out on other kids.  Guess we'll just have to wait to find out!

On Saturday, Claire got to meet some of her future BFF's (mommy and daddy's friends' kids :)).  We were somehow able to snap a pic of all 5 of them awake at the same time.  Meet (from left to right) Addison, Madeline, Gavin, and Emma.  Emma and Addie are sisters and Maddie and Gavin are twins. Claire's lucky to have such a fun crew to hang with :)

Sunday we went to see Claire's big cousins, Grace and Maddie, play soccer.  They couldn't have been more excited.
They have lots to teach Claire.  Like how to kick as well as Maddie.
And look as great as Grace in goal.
Three of their biggest fans watched them from the sidelines.
As well as their little brother, cutie patootie Luke.
After their soccer game, they couldn't wait to hang with Claire.
They even sang to her.  Here they are performing Itsy Bitsy Spider.
Claire's one lucky girl to have such great cousins.

Well, we better get ready for another big first for Claire.  We're taking her to her first Flyer's game tonight!  Can't wait!

Welcome Lily!

Claire's BFF finally joined us last week!

My sister, Laura, had her baby on Wednesday, October 12th at 11:15pm.  Here's a sneak peek of the cutie patootie.
She weighed in at 7lbs 4ozs and was 20.5 inches long...close to the same size as Claire.  Lily also has big feet so hopefully Claire will have someone to borrow lots of clothes and shoes from :)

We're going to visit Lily again this week so will be sure to take lots more pics of her and Claire together (you'll be able to see just how big Claire has gotten).

Meeting Lily was obviously the highlight of our week.  Here are some other things Claire was up to.

We finally pulled out the playmat for Claire.  She didn't know what to think of it at first.
Her eyes get really big when she sees something for the first time.
Then when those little toys start moving, she of course gives them the stink eye.
But she likes the music.  She starts singing along.
The girl loves talking these days :)
Claire is really noticing things a lot more.  She has these cute pajamas that have bears on the feet which really blew her mind the first time she saw them.
She kept folding in half trying to get a closer look.
She also just discovered TV.  Here she is enjoying Real Housewives or Most Eligible Dallas (the only shows on during the day while Daddy's at work).  She's hooked already :)

Mommy finally started going back to the gym last week so Claire got to hang with Grammie for a few hours each day (a little warmup for Grammie's long days ahead when Mommy goes back to work).   Here's a pic of her on her way.
Grammie loves spending time with her little Claire.

Friday night, Claire got to experience her first girls night.  She of course slept through most of it...all of those familiar voices must've relaxed her.  She did hear them 5 days a week for 9 months straight after all.  We had to snap a pic of her awake while we had the chance.

This week, we're going to hang with Lily and have Claire's 2 month checkup where she'll get lots of shots.  I'll let you know how she handles them.  Wish us luck!

Ta-ta for now!

Workin' out

Now that Claire is a whopping 2 months old already, we have to make sure she gets some workin' out in each day to help strengthen her neck.  "They" (whoever they are) recommend infants get two 10 minute sessions of tummy time a day.  Unfortunately, Claire HATES tummy time.  She's usually good for about 3-4 minutes and then she either freaks out and cries or she lays her head down and goes to sleep.

Here's a rare pic of her during tummy time NOT crying.
She may hate tummy time but she LOVES her bumbo seat.  We tried it out for the first time last week since she's been doing pretty good holding her head up on her own and she actually cried when I took her out of it after 10 minutes.

Here she is the very first time we sat her in it.
I think I like this thing.
 Look mom no hands!
I could hang out here all day

Now I know I've been slacking on my posts so I do have some catching up to do.  Here are some of the highlights from my last post 10 days ago.

Mommy and Claire getting ready to go to dinner with Nana and Poppa for Daddy's 30th birthday.
 She's getting so big already!
Picked Claire up her first pair of cowboy boots.
Seriously mom with the pictures?
Claire hanging out with daddy before watching the sad sad Phillies game on Friday night.
Not so happy after the game.
Thankfully the weather was absolutely gorgeous for the rest of the weekend to make up for the disappointing Phils.  We took full advantage and spent the entire weekend outside.

Took a walk over to the new Penn Park which was so pretty.
With some really cool views of the city.
Too sunny to be without shades :)
Here's a play by play of daddy making Claire smile before bedtime.
Speaking of bedtime, I really don't want to jinx it but I think we may have a sleep-through-the-nighter.  Every single night for the past week and a half Claire has slept for at least 8 hours straight.  She usually goes to bed around 10-10:30pm and sleeps until 6:30am.  She eats quick and then is back to bed until 9:30am.
After such a good night's sleep she's the happiest baby....and so are mommy and daddy :)
Can't believe our little Claire is 2 months old already!  Time is flying by way too fast!
